Check for the dispensary verification tool. Every licensed dispensary in New York is required to post this near their main entrance. It’s a QR code or placard that links to the state’s official registry.
You can also visit the Office of Cannabis Management’s website and search their list of licensed retailers. If a shop isn’t on that list, they’re not legal—no matter what they tell you or what their website says.
A lot of smoke shops and delivery services operate in a gray area. They’re selling cannabis products, but they’re not state-licensed, which means their products haven’t been tested and they’re not following the same safety or labeling standards. That’s a risk you don’t need to take when licensed options exist.
Licensed dispensaries can only sell products that have passed lab testing for potency, pesticides, heavy metals, and microbial contaminants. Every product gets a Certificate of Analysis (COA) that shows exactly what’s in it. You’ll see THC and CBD percentages, terpene profiles, and confirmation that it’s safe to consume.
Smoke shops selling cannabis aren’t required to do any of that. They’re operating outside the regulated market, which means no testing, no oversight, and no accountability. You don’t know what you’re getting, and if something’s wrong with the product, you have no recourse.
New York’s cannabis laws exist to protect consumers. Licensed dispensaries follow those laws. Unlicensed sellers don’t. It’s that simple.
Because most towns opted out. New York’s cannabis law gave municipalities the option to prohibit retail dispensaries, and nearly half of them did. Nassau County opted out entirely, which is why there’s not a single licensed shop there.
In Suffolk County, only certain towns allowed dispensaries, so you see clusters in places like Farmingdale, Riverhead, and Southampton. That leaves a lot of Long Island residents without nearby access, even though the region has some of the highest cannabis sales per store in the state.
It’s a supply-and-demand problem. The demand is clearly there—Long Island accounts for 11% of New York’s total cannabis sales despite having only 3% of the state’s dispensaries. But until more municipalities opt in, access will stay limited. That’s why delivery services like ours matter. We’re bringing licensed products to areas that don’t have local storefronts.

A common mistake is taking more because you don’t feel anything right away. Don’t do that. Wait at least two hours before considering a second dose.

If you’re in Nassau County, we can deliver there too. Since there are no licensed dispensaries in Nassau, a lot of residents either drive to Suffolk or go without. You don’t have to do either. We’ll bring licensed, lab-tested cannabis directly to you.
It depends on what you’re looking for. Flower gives you the full plant experience—terpenes, cannabinoids, and faster onset. You’ll feel effects within minutes, and you have control over dosing by how much you consume. The downside is smell and the need for rolling papers or a pipe.
Vapes are discreet, portable, and convenient. You get precise dosing, a variety of strain options, and no lingering odor. They’re a good middle ground if you want fast effects without the ritual of smoking flower. Just make sure you’re buying from a licensed dispensary—unregulated vape cartridges have been linked to serious health issues.
Edibles are ideal if you want long-lasting effects and don’t want to inhale anything. They’re great for sleep or sustained pain relief. The tradeoff is delayed onset and longer duration. If you take too much, you’re in for a longer ride than you’d get from smoking or vaping. Start with 2.5 to 5 mg of THC if you’re new. You can always take more next time.
