Licensed Cannabis Dispensary Near You

What You Get When You Choose Legal

You’re not rolling the dice on mystery products from unlicensed shops. Every item you pick up has been tested for potency, purity, and contaminants—because that’s what New York law requires from licensed dispensaries.

When you walk into a legal pot dispensary, you’re getting more than just cannabis. You’re getting transparency. Clear labeling that tells you exactly what’s in your product, how much THC or CBD it contains, and where it came from. No surprises, no guessing.

And if you’re new to this or just want to try something different, you’re working with people who actually know what they’re talking about. Budtenders who can explain the difference between sativa and indica without making you feel lost. Staff who understand that choosing the right edible or vape cartridge matters—and who’ll help you find what works for your needs, whether that’s pain relief, better sleep, or just unwinding after a long week.

Your Centre Island Cannabis Store

We're Here Because Long Island Needed This

Long Island’s cannabis landscape has been complicated. With 85% of municipalities opting out, finding a licensed dispensary near Centre Island hasn’t been easy. That’s left a lot of people stuck choosing between driving far or taking a chance on unlicensed shops.

We exist to change that. We’re a state-licensed operation serving Centre Island and the surrounding North Shore communities with legal, tested cannabis products. No back-alley transactions, no wondering if what you’re buying is safe.

You’ll find us carrying quality flower, edibles, vapes, concentrates, and CBD products—all from vetted suppliers who meet New York’s testing standards. We’re not trying to be the cheapest option on the block. We’re trying to be the one you come back to because you know exactly what you’re getting every time.

How to Shop at Our Dispensary

Walking In Is the Hardest Part

First, you’ll need a valid ID showing you’re 21 or older. That’s non-negotiable—it’s state law, and we check every time.

Once you’re inside, you’re free to browse or ask questions. Our budtenders are there to help, not pressure. If you know what you want, great. If you’re trying to figure out whether you need a high-CBD edible or a balanced hybrid flower, they’ll walk you through it. They’ll ask about your experience level, what effects you’re looking for, and any preferences you have on consumption method.

When you’ve made your choice, you’ll check out and pay. Because cannabis is still federally illegal, most dispensaries operate on a cash basis or use compliant payment systems—we’ll let you know what options are available when you visit.

Then you’re done. You leave with a legal product, a receipt, and the confidence that what you bought has been tested and approved by New York State. No paranoia, no legal risk, no wondering if you just made a mistake.

About Bring Me Weed

What's Available at Our Pot Dispensary

Real Selection, Real Testing, Real Transparency

You’ll find cannabis flower in different strains—sativa, indica, and hybrid—each with different effects and THC levels. If you’re looking for energy and focus, sativas tend to deliver. If you want relaxation or help sleeping, indicas are usually the move. Hybrids give you a mix of both.

Edibles are popular here, especially with people who want discretion or don’t want to smoke. Gummies, chocolates, baked goods—all dosed clearly so you know exactly how much you’re taking. Start low if you’re new. Edibles take longer to kick in, but the effects last longer too.

Vape cartridges and concentrates are for people who want potency and convenience. They’re cleaner than smoking, easier to dose, and discreet enough to use without drawing attention. We carry a range of options depending on whether you want full-spectrum, distillate, or live resin.

And if you’re more interested in wellness than getting high, we stock CBD products with little to no THC. Tinctures, topicals, capsules—all lab-tested and legal.

On Long Island, you’ll also find licensed dispensaries in towns like Farmingdale (Happy Days, Planet Nugg, Strain Stars), Coram (Simply Green), Deer Park (Long Island Cannabis Club), and others across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Each one operates under the same state regulations, so you’re getting the same level of safety and transparency no matter where you go.

How do I know if a dispensary is actually licensed in New York?

Every legal dispensary in New York is required to display the NYS Dispensary Verification Tool in their storefront. It’s a state-issued document that proves the business is licensed and compliant. If you don’t see it, you’re probably not in a legal shop.

You can also check the state’s official list of licensed dispensaries online. New York’s Office of Cannabis Management maintains a public database. If the shop you’re considering isn’t on that list, walk away.

This matters more than you might think. Unlicensed dispensaries outnumber legal ones in New York—by a lot. In New York City alone, there were roughly 85 legal dispensaries compared to over 1,400 illegal ones as of early 2024. Many of those illegal shops have been shut down, but plenty are still operating. They’re not testing their products, they’re not following safety standards, and they’re not accountable to anyone.

Safety. That’s the biggest one. Legal cannabis gets tested by third-party labs for potency, pesticides, heavy metals, mold, and other contaminants. Illegal cannabis doesn’t. Studies have shown that 40% of illicit products would fail at least one safety test if they were held to legal standards.

You also get accurate labeling. When a legal dispensary tells you a product has 20% THC, that’s been verified. When an illegal shop tells you the same thing, you’re taking their word for it—and research shows many illegal products don’t contain the THC levels advertised.

Then there’s the legal protection. Buying from a licensed dispensary means you’re not breaking the law. You get a receipt, clear documentation, and the peace of mind that comes with doing things the right way. If something goes wrong with a product, you have recourse. With an illegal shop, you have nothing.

Price is the main reason people still go to unlicensed dispensaries. An eighth might cost $25 at an illegal shop versus $80 at a legal one. But you’re not comparing apples to apples. You’re comparing untested, unregulated product to something that’s been vetted and approved by the state.

Start with something low-dose and easy to control. A low-THC edible (5mg or less) or a balanced CBD-to-THC product is usually a safe bet. Edibles take longer to kick in—sometimes up to two hours—but the effects are predictable if you’re patient and don’t take more too soon.

If you’d rather inhale, consider a vape pen with a mild hybrid strain. Vaping gives you faster onset, so you’ll know within 10-15 minutes how it’s affecting you. That makes it easier to dose yourself without overdoing it.

Talk to our budtenders. Tell them it’s your first time, what you’re hoping to get out of it (relaxation, pain relief, better sleep, etc.), and any concerns you have. They’ll steer you toward something appropriate and explain how to use it safely.

The biggest mistake new users make is taking too much too fast, especially with edibles. You can always take more later. You can’t take less once it’s in your system. Start small, wait, and see how you feel before adding more.

Because 85% of Long Island municipalities opted out of allowing cannabis dispensaries. That means most towns and villages decided not to permit them, even though cannabis is legal at the state level.

Only a handful of towns—Babylon, Brookhaven, Riverhead, and Southampton—plus a few villages said yes. That’s why you’ll see clusters of dispensaries in places like Farmingdale, Coram, and Riverhead, but vast stretches of Long Island with no legal access at all.

This opt-out situation has created two problems. First, it forces people to drive farther to reach a legal dispensary, which is inconvenient and discourages legal purchases. Second, it’s allowed illegal dispensaries to flourish in areas without legal options. When people can’t access legal cannabis easily, they’re more likely to take a chance on an unlicensed shop.

The good news is that the dispensaries that are open—including us and others in Farmingdale, Deer Park, East Setauket, and other licensed locations—are legitimate operations following state law. If you’re near Centre Island, you’ve got options within a reasonable drive. It’s not perfect, but it’s a lot better than risking your health on unregulated products.

Sativa strains are typically associated with energizing, uplifting effects. People use them during the day when they want to stay productive, creative, or social. If you’re looking for something that won’t put you to sleep, sativa is usually the way to go.

Indica strains tend to be more relaxing and sedating. They’re popular for nighttime use, pain relief, or help with sleep. If you want to unwind, ease muscle tension, or quiet your mind before bed, indica is often the better choice.

Hybrids are a mix of both. They’re bred to give you some of the benefits of sativa and some of indica, depending on the specific strain. Some hybrids lean more energizing, others lean more relaxing. Your budtender can help you figure out which hybrid matches what you’re looking for.

That said, these categories aren’t perfect. The effects you feel also depend on the specific cannabinoids and terpenes in the strain, your own body chemistry, and how much you use. Two people can try the same sativa and have different experiences. The labels give you a starting point, but it’s worth experimenting (carefully) to find what works best for you.

It depends on the dispensary, but most operate on a cash basis. Cannabis is still illegal under federal law, which means most banks won’t work with cannabis businesses. That makes it difficult for dispensaries to accept traditional credit or debit cards.

Some dispensaries have found workarounds—cashless ATM systems or compliant payment processors—but those aren’t universal. It’s smart to call ahead or check our website to see what payment methods we accept before you visit.

If you need to pay cash, many dispensaries have ATMs on-site. Just be aware that those ATMs often charge fees, so you might want to bring cash with you to avoid the extra cost.

This is one of those frustrating gaps in the legal cannabis system. The state has legalized it, but the federal government hasn’t, so the banking system is stuck in the middle. It’s inconvenient, but it’s not a reflection on us—it’s a limitation we’re working within until federal laws change.
